The Misano World Circuit is located close to town called Misano Adriatico (Province of Rimini) in the frazione of Santamonica. Circuit Misano exists since 1972. The first designed racetrack had a length of 3.5 km. In 1993 the length of the track was increased to almost 4.1 km. Officially the track lies in Italy, but it seen as the World Superbike San Marino.

From its inauguration until 2005 the race was run anti-clockwise on Circuit Misano. After some serious improvements including new facilities and new pit garages the circuit changed the race direction clockwise. All the improvements where made to ensure the safety of the drivers and higher demanding facilities of all circuits.
